Message From The Race Director

WINTER IS NOT OVER!!! So don't write off winter just yet, we must all stay positive! I think that the Pineapple or Punchbowl Express is almost over and we can hopefully get back what snow we lost and more. The interior hasn't been impacted and the snow pack there will last until the end of April. The conditions at Silver Star (picture at right) right now are perfect for snowshoe running/hiking! In saying that, Silver Star Yeti is a go and pre-registration is open.

Sign up by the end of January and you still have a chance of winning a brand new pair of Atlas Dual Tracs worth $350 just by pre-registering.

Also, if you're one of the first 25 to pre-register for the Silver Star race you will receive a Yeti Helly Hansen Lifa Beanie worth $25 - it's a great lightweight technical toque! (pictured to the left).

Silver Star Mountain Resort boasts the world's first custom-built ski hostel on the entire planet - yeah, you know it, that's very cool for the backpackers among us. This is a world-class hostel facility sat right on the side of a huge four-season mountain. Silver Star, like Big White, is a ski-in/ski-out facility directly in the Silver Star village. The hostel is fully equipped, with a snack bar, foosball table, table tennis, pool tables, Internet and much more! The common area is big (it officially qualifies as 'gi-normous') and is just the right place for a multitude of backpackers to party, play... and recover after a day on the mountain. Same Sun also offers affordable quality meals available in the hostel - FREE pancakes for breakfast.

As most of you know, due to heavy rainfall and lack of snow Mt. Washington is closed until further notice and that the first race of the season was postponed. We are looking at rescheduling that race but it is dependant on snow. We will let you know the outcome when we know so please stay tuned to the Yeti SnowTimes. Also, I would like to thank everyone for the supportive emails.

The Yeti Snowshoe Academy

Due to Mount Seymour closures we have re-scheduled this weeks Yeti Snowshoe Academy clinic and Thursday Night Group Run. We are running a make up class for the Wed. Coed clinic this Sat Jan 29 from 9am - 11am at Snowtown. We are also offering a morning group run this Sunday Jan 30 from 10am - 11am also meeting at Snowtown. We are trying our best to continue these programs under challenging circumstances. There is enough snow for us to run on and have a great time so we hope you come up top and continue your training.
