Hi Racers

Mt Washington Was Wow and The Triple Crown is on!

Yeti Downhill The Mount Washington Race had it all, fresh snow, fantastic course, fun downhill section and plenty of smiles all around. It really was a great way to kick of the season and what a season it is going to be!

Back on the mainland the Triple Crown of snowshoeing is about to begin and I think we have a lot of hungry locals looking to rip it up. This year the series is complete with Grouse sandwiched between the season opener on Mount Seymour and Cypress hosting The Canadian National Snowshoe Championships for the first time ever on the West Coast. It is going to be a big year as the fastest man and women will enter the snowshoe history books as the first West Coast Canadian Champs and let's face it, we always remember the first. It's not just about speed, it's about getting into winter and enjoying that mountain fresh air, good luck to all of you.

Thursday Nights Are On - Come out and pre run sections of The Yeti Mount Seymour Race Course

Last Thursday Night Drop In was great with over 100 people out for a snowshoe. Make sure you get up the mountain with plenty of time to sign in and get ready. This week will be a great opportunity to pre run some of the Mount Seymour race course.

The Yeti Thursday Night Drop In Session provides an opportunity for you to snowshoe run in a fun none intimidating environment. We have a walk/hike group for first timers that want to get their feat white. The Run/Walk is the most popular group during drop in season, they really like to "Yeti it up" out on the trail. The run group is for those that are looking for a more consistent pace, be ready for a steady Eddie for the 1 hour. Every year I see new people come out and enjoy the evening session so much, they come back to all the Thursday Nights, maybe this will be you for 2008!

Thursday Night Drop In Mount Seymour

Result Adjustment to Team Category

The Yeti would like to apologize for a timing error that took place at the Mount Washington Race. The Team Category is growing and so is the competition with all top teams pushing hard for Victory. On the day 1st place was awarded to Team North Shore Athletics with a 2 second gap on 2nd place Helly Hansen. Upon further review Team Helly Hansen did in fact come in 1st place with North Shore Athletics coming in a close 2nd place. Congratulations to Team Helly Hansen, it looks like we have ourselves a friendly rivalry, who will be the top finishing team this weekend? Good luck to all the snowshoers on Mount Seymour.

Volunteers Needed!

If you or someone you know wants to come up to be part of the yeti this weekend we could still use some more great people! Help out with registration, timing or get out on course and cheer racers on. The Yeti is what it is because of the people that help to put it on. Got to the Volunteer page for more info.

If anyone has any questions at all please do not hesitate to email me, marc@theyeti.ca.
