Hi Racers

YETI AT GROUSE MOUNTAIN THIS SATURDAY!

The Yeti has been looking forward to hosting this event on Grouse Mountain and that day has finally arrived. Sat Feb 16 at 10:00am the start gun goes of and we hope to see you on the line. Grouse is such a unique venue, the terrain offers a backcountry style experience that is not found on any of our course. Once on top of Dam Mountain the views are amazing, it's worth coming out just for that!

We have really gone the extra mile to deliver the best possible course as always and I think you will enjoy what we have come up with. We are extra excited about this event because we feel that it might just be the biggest snowshoe race ever on the West Coast if not Canada, so help us set this new record and come out and experience The Yeti.

A couple quick notes, please make sure you register and check in at the Base in front of Guest Services. Arrive early registration closes at 9:30am the race starts at 10:00am and we have to get everyone up the Skyride which adds time to the day, so give yourself an extra 30minutes to eliminate that morning rush.

Its going to be a great day as the weather is going to clear up for the weekend. We can't wait to start the first ever Yeti on Grouse Mountain!

SKYRIDE To Get To Start Line.

If you are a Grouse Mountain Skyride pass holder then you will not have to pay to ride but if you are NOT you will have to pay $5. We have had this on the website for quite some time and for online registration. You can pay when you check in at the base of Grouse on Sat.

Mount Seymour Post Race Report

Sat Feb 2, 2008 - The Yeti has always wanted to be an event for the masses, an outlet in the winter for runners, cyclist and recreational athletes in general to come out and enjoy a good workout on snow and hopefully have some fun. For 2007 The Yeti Mount Seymour Race course was received with mixed feelings so it was important to introduce a new course for 2008 that would bring back that snowshoe grin. When racers started crossing the finish line it became evident that we had achieved what we had set out to do.

The course is a very important component to The Yeti race experience. We worked extra hard this year as the Snowpack is over the top. Prior to the race the local mountains received close to 60cm of snow so it was going to be a soft surface making the athletes work hard for the finish line. As Saturday started to unfold we had snow early morning but as the day went on that high over cast sky started to burn off. Then half way through the race it cleared and the blue sky showed up and it was beautiful!

For the participant's at the front end of the pack it is heating up. In the men's and the women's category mere seconds are separating the top runners as everyone is starting to push hard for the line with the Canadian National Snowshoe Championships drawing near. Something to talk about this season is the team category with 2 new teams on the line at Mount Seymour. Team Atlas Canada wants to leave their foot print out on course and it's great to see Team New Juc competing and having a good time. Congrates to North Shore Athletics for nudging out Team Helly Hansen by 25 seconds. This is the combined time of the top 4 men and top women from each team so to have a 25 second gap is what we would call a "close race".

Thank you for coming out and supporting The Yeti Snowshoe Series on Mount Seymour, we look forward to seeing you at Grouse Mountain on Saturday Feb 16, 2008.
