Message From The Race Director

First off I would like to thank everyone that came out for the mount Seymour Yeti. Great turnout, beautiful day and the best course we've ever had there. I would like to thank BC Parks for letting us use their great terrain. Below are a few shots of the Seymour race. The rest of the pics will be updated shortly on theyeti.ca, so check back.

We had a newcomer take the win at Seymour Yeti. Nate Wood had a great run with a winning time of 54:53. Andrew Clarke followed after that with a time of 56:08 and Justin Mark in third with a time of 57:32. For the woman we had Penny Lidstone take the win with a time of 1:03:48, Carey Sather in second with a time of 1:05:54 and in third was Lana Allen with a time of 1:10:31. In the Team Category we had Club Smart Ass take their second win of the season with a time of 1:08:06 just beating Team Tubbs North Shore Athletics with a time of 1:10:08.

    Team Yeti Canada Update

    Mount Seymour Yeti

Team Yeti Canada making their first appearance on what could be called as their stomping grounds took part on in the second race of the Yeti Race Series.

With 4 members of the men prepping for the U.S National Championships in Anchorage Alaska, Seymour proved to be the perfect training course. Hills, hills, and more hills. Leading the pack and battling for first overall was perennial winner Andrew Clarke, but in the end, when the snow pack cleared he was clipped at the end of the race. "The conditions where ideal for a fast race and the hills played into my strengths…apparently they played into Nate Wood's also" Clarke said. Justin Mark of Team Yeti Canada raced extremely hard for third and this glutton for punishment changed uniforms and headed to Nanaimo for a mountain bike race that same evening. Six of the top ten men crossing the line were sporting a Team Yeti Canada jersey.

The women athletes of Yeti Canada had a more impressive final. Penny Lidstone, Carey Sather and Lana Allen took the top three podium spots with Penny Lidstone taking her 2nd win in as many races this year. "I raced a bit too hard in the first half of the race but settle in and ran a comfortable second half. I really thought that Carey was going to reel me in, but I was able to recover" Lidsonte said post race. Sather took a pretty brutal fall on one of the gnarly technical down hills that course designer Marc Campbell included but recovered with only minor bruises.

Team Yeti Canada going North…to the U.S

Andrew Clarke, Dom Repta and Michael Campbell Burns are heading to Anchorage Alaska, March 5th, for the 2005 Atlas U.S National Snowshoe Championships. Toeing the line will be some of the best and fastest athletes the U.S has to offer. This is the first time team members from Canada will have taken part in this event, and hope to field the entire team in 2006. To learn more about the race, visit www.snowshoeracing.com.
