Message from the Race Director
Hey Snowshoers!
I can't believe that we are upon the last race of the series, it feels like the season has just gotten started. I think that this has been the best Yeti season in 5 years, great conditions, great new courses and a lot of great new and old Yeti participants getting out there and enjoying winter. I would like to thank everyone that came out and made Mount Seymour the largest Yeti race ever and it also became the largest snowshoe race in Canada. It was very exciting to see that 125 people registered for the Yeti. We had a great group of volunteers that really brought this race together, thanks to everyone.
We still have one race left to get all excited about and that's Cypress Mountain for the series final. We have a great course lined up for you and don't worry, it won't have the elevation that Mount Seymour had. I had a lot of emails saying they loved the Seymour course, but what a killer! You have to ask yourself the question…if it was too easy, would you want to do it? Below are some things you need to read so you know what's going on for this weekends race.
15cm (6") has just fallen, I don't know if Mother Nature could have timed it better for this weekend's final race. Get up there and have some fun!

Yeti Series Points
For some this series is about racing hard and collecting points to be the overall winner in their category and for others it's about trying a new challenge and meeting like-minded people. We have a couple close calls and it'll be exciting to see who takes the overall Yeti champion for each category. We will be recognizing 3rd and 2nd for overall champion but we will only be awarding the overall winners. Download Series Points spreadsheet.

Snowshoer's Grand Prize
This year the Snowshoer's Grand Prize is made up of some great product from all of out sponsors. We have items like Helly Hansen shoes, lifa top and bottoms, headlamp from Black Diamond, Nordic walking Poles from Exel, sunglasses from Ryders, Garmin Forerunner GPS watch from Deakin Equipment, snowshoes from Atlas and much more. This prize package will go to someone that has done the Yeti this season and remember you have to be at this final event to win. The more races you've done, the more chances you have to win. This prize is worth almost $2,000 and will be given out at the Cypress awards at Taylor's Crossing. Don't miss out on your chance to win!

Mini Vans, The better SUV!
I would like to thank Pioneer Chrysler for the great Dodge Caravans we have. They not only get us to where we need to go in style but they also take all of our stuff as well. I have owned a few SUV's in my life and I have to say that I have been converted to the Mini Van. I can pack the entire Yeti event into and on top of my Dodge Grand Caravan. This vehicle is better on gas and is easier to get everything inside than an SUV. If you are in the market for a new vehicle you should definitely go and see our friends at Pioneer Chrysler in Mission for the best deal you will find anywhere on any vehicle you're in the market for. Email me, marc@theyeti.ca and I'll give you a VIP card that will save you even more.

Thursday Night Drop In
You can still get in one more group run this Thursday night before the race. Drop Ins will be ending March 30 so get out while you can. $5 if you own your own snowshoes and $10 if you don't. This is a great way to get a great workout in at any level, beginner, intermediate or advanced. Be at Mount Seymour by 6:30 to sign in and get ready to go out at 7pm sharp. We are located at the far North end of the parking lot, look for the Yeti vans.

Yeti Ascent - The Biggest Trail/Snowshoe Ascent race in North America!
Panorama Park in Deep Cove to Mount Seymour's Pump Peak. All participants, Solo and Lower Course Relay must carry their snowshoes and will transition at the snowline. Once you have reached Mount Seymour parking lot level (8km mark) you will either tag your partner or continue up to Pump Peak. Once you have reached the peak you will return to parking lot level elevation at Mount Seymour for a "much deserved" finish line. Do the Solo Ascent, Relay Ascent or Snowshoe Only Ascent. Snowshoe rentals are available. The only question is…ARE YOU UP FOR IT? Go to the yeti Ascent page for more details.
