Hey Yeti Racers!
Welcome to the Ascent edition of the Yeti SnowTimes!
This newsletter is just to give you a breakdown of everything you should know about for race day. If you have any questions regarding the race please email marc@theyeti.ca or if it's in regards to volunteering email lisa@theyeti.ca. Due to registration being only Solo athletes, there will NOT be any Relay or Upper Section Only registration available.
- The race is on Sunday, not Saturday. A lot of people thought it was on Saturday as we normally hold our events on Saturdays.
- Race Package Pick Up will be held on Saturday April 8 from 11am to 3pm at North Shore Athletics on Lonsdale in North Vancouver. For directions and any other info call them at 604.990.6888. if you are not registered and want to you will be able to still get pre-reg pricing of $40. We always like to give incentives to our customers so whoever goes to pick up their race package at NSA will have a chance to win a FREE registration into the Yeti Ascent.
- Race Day registration is in Panorama Park in Deep Cove from 7:30 to 8:30am and will be located under the pavilion.
- We have a Shuttle Bus service running for those of you that don't have support. The Shuttle Bus is $5 and will leave from Mount Seymour at 7:30am SHARP! You can leave your car at Panorama Park and look for a ride down after the event, but you will have to pay for parking all day so we recommend you park at Mount Seymour and use the Shuttle. It will be cheaper to leave your car at Seymour as parking is free and you will have all of your stuff there when you finish. Please email marc@theyeti.ca if you're interested in this service, space is limited.
- Race Starts at 9am SHARP!
- There will be refreshments and food at Mount Seymour for you to grab on your way through and at the end of your race.
- Make sure that you pack water, a couple of GU gels and a energy bar.
- Snowshoe Rentals are available and you can pick them up at sign in on Race Day at Panorama Park.
- Every athlete MUST carry their snowshoes up with them!
- Every athlete must carry a whistle, we will provide that for you at registration
- There is a CUT OFF of 11:30am at Mount Seymour parking lot. If you cannot make it up to Mount Seymour in 2.5 hours you CANNOT continue to the top. This is a safety issue.
- Awards/Prizing will be held at Seymour's Pub at approx 3pm
- Don't forget, not only do you get a FREE bottle of Sleemans beer at Seymour's Pub you will also have a chance of winning some great prizes!

Wondering how to prepare for this race? What should I pack, what should I wear? Dave Howells has put together a little piece on how to get ready for the Yeti Ascent. Click here to see if you're really UP for it! (PDF format)
If you feel like you would like to use hiking poles for this event we have 15 pairs of EXEL Nordic Walking poles to loan out. These are on a first come first serve basis and will be available at registration in Panorama Park.
Good Luck to everyone that is taking part in this great event! For those of you still on the fence about doing it, registration is still open online until Thursday at midnight and also at North Shore Athletics on Saturday.
