Message From The Race Director:
As I said in the last newsletter, this is crazy weather we're having! We now have more snow than we have had all season. Registration has been coming in strong for the Yeti Ascent and with one week left of pre-registration you should REGISTER NOW because you don't want to miss this great event! This event has North Vancouver CLASSIC written all over it -- an amazing trail run/hike and now with all this new snow we have an incredible snowshoe with a stellar view at the top of Pump Peak!

The Yeti Mountain Snowshoe Series
What's New: Register For Just The 6km Snowshoe!
Due to the demand that we received to open up just the top section (the snowshoe portion) of the Yeti Ascent we have decided to do just that. Whether you have done a Yeti in the past or this is going to be your year to try one, this is your last chance of the season! The 'classic' Yeti will be 6km in length with an elevation gain of just over 1200 feet. Hike the entire course and you'll be done in about an hour and a half to two hours. It's a great way to spend a Saturday morning. To register click here.
Course Map:
We have just put a downloadable map online, click here to view. This will give you a better idea of what you're UP against. This map is subject to change due to weather. For example, if it is a great day and we don't lose any snow the course will remain the same. If we lose snow or if it's a bad weather day we will not be able to go to Pump Peak for safety reasons and we will then put a new course map online. You will also get to see it on race day before the race starts.
Course Description:
Panorama Park to Baden Powell Trail
Beautiful scenic start at the oceans edge with an undulating, steep climb up technical single track past Quarry Rock, under Power Line Service Rd, continuing along the BP with slippery rock and roots to Indian River Rd.
BP Trail to Indian River Rd
Approx 1 km along paved flat Indian River Rd, turning onto the challenging Three Chop Trail (think Grouse Grind x2). This section is VERY steep, rooty and has loose rock. Be careful and be prepared to hike.
Three Chop to Perimeter Trail
Three Chop climbs up to the well-groomed, wide Perimeter Trail. This section is steep and undulating and the trail is in great shape with no obstacles. The path narrows and becomes Discovery Lake Loop.
Discovery Lake Loop on Mount Seymour property to Parking lot
This is undulating single track with slippery roots and rock. Stay on the marked route as the lake may not be frozen, or hidden in the snow. A short steep climb brings you to the Seymour Parking Lot.
Parking Lot up Mount Seymour Trail
Leaving the parking lot you will be on a gradual climb with a few steep sections. Pace yourself, as it will soon get steeper.
Mount Seymour Trail to Pump Peak
This is the steepest section of the snowshoe course with undulating single track all the way to the Peak. Now for the view. It's beautiful being at the top! Now check in and head down.
Pump Peak to Finish
You will make your way back down the way you came up until you get to the cut off. Once there you will head straight down the ski run all the way to the finish line.
