Message From The Race Director

First off I would like to thank everybody for their interest in the Yeti Mountain Snowshoe Series for 2004. This year the Yeti has been approached by 4 new mountains, in which we have chosen 2 to add. The Yeti is pleased to welcome Mt. Washington and Silver Star to the line up of great venues.

I have been visiting race venues across the province and they are all filling up with fresh snow, some mountains are better now than they were all last season. Go to the race schedule page and click on the different mountains to see how much snow each mountain has been getting. It's going to be a great season! To the right is a shot of Mount Seymour On Wednesday, November 26, 2004 taken from one of the snowshoe trails.

Each month we will be doing draws for people that have pre-registered online to win great prizes. You can win before you race!!!

This months draw prize will be a pair of Dual Trac Snowshoes (see picture at right). Anyone who signs up online from now until the end of December 2003 will have a chance of winning this great prize worth almost $400.

Polar Training Tip Of The Month

Warm-Up
Written by Mike Gostigian
11/1/2003

"Warm-up to play, do not play to warm-up" is the mantra of fitness professionals. Unfortunately, many athletes, fitness enthusiasts & weekend warriors overlook the importance of performing a proper warm-up for their particular activity. One example, a typical person going to play tennis will step onto the court and start warming-up by hitting the ball; or a golfer will get to the range and simply start swinging the club & hit a bucket of golf balls. This is exactly what you do not want to do - which is "play to warm-up."

End Of Season
Article by Sean Lunny

For most of us November marks the end of the Adventure Racing year. For those of you like me, that started racing back in May at the Duncan Momar season opener, its no-doubt been a long year with lots of great races. One of the common questions I get at this time of year is what sort of training, and level of intensity people should be training at now that their racing season is finished. The answer is dependent on the amount of racing you did, and how great an improvement you made over your previous year of fitness.

Thanks again for subscribing to the Yeti Snow Times, we look forward to seeing all of you out at Yeti events this season.
