Yeti Snowshoe Academy Team

Dave "Howeller" Howells Comments on the 2009 Season

As the 2009 Snowshoe Season approach’s I feel very positive about the trail ahead. Each year we continue to develop exciting new opportunities for snowshoe enthusiast and this year is no different.

As always Mount Washington will kick of the season. It’s a venue like no other with an amazing 5km loop that is ranked as one of the best! When I designed this course and first found the rolling meadows and the classic ridge line I new I was onto something. This was confirmed when the competitors crossed the line with that snowshoe grin on their face.

Mount Seymour will kick of the local series and everyone can look forward to some interesting and exciting new course features. When Grouse Mountain came on board I new that the circuit is now complete. The Grouse course has an amazing back country loop that offers up some of the best views going, although you are racing make sure you keep your head up. Cypress Mountain as always will finish our race series with the best single track course on the circuit.

Each venue has it’s own personality and dynamic character that will bring out the best in all of us. Whether you are a hard core racer or a recreational snowshoer, the Yeti will provide the ultimate experience. As I always say, Go hard, never give up and be a winner wherever you finish".

The Yeti Snowshoe Team

The Yeti Race Team consists of a diverse group of individuals that is committed to the sport of snowshoe running. Yes we want to be competitive but in an environment that reflects some of the simplistic benefits of that this amazing winter activity has to offer. We all believe it is about having fun with friends and family in a positive outdoor environment.

We feel lucky because it is more than just a form of exercise. Winter on the West Coast can be long wet and sometimes miserable. Having the local mountains in such close proximity to the city provides an escape to a different world. The mountain top fresh air is cool crisp and often dry, the members of team Yeti embrace this and want to share it with the outdoor community.

Team Yeti really does endorse one of our favorite messages,

“This season rediscover winter and snowshoe with The Yeti”
